Join the protest in Jayyous –December 12
On Friday December 12 the Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign calls on all international solidarity activists to come to Jayyous and participate in the third weekly demonstration against the re-route of the Wall through village land.
The demonstration will begin in the centre of Jayyous at around 1:00 pm, after the midday prayer. Protestors will march towards the south
gate of the Wall, where Occupation forces are currently in the process of uprooting olive trees and destroying farmland in preparation for the new path of the Wall. The new path will permanently confiscate some 5,585 dunums of land, along with four artisan wells that serve Jayyous. All of this territory will be annexed by Zufim settlement, and thousands of villagers will lose their livelihoods.
Over the past week, Occupation forces in Jayyous have been particularly repressive, permanently stationing military jeeps at the south gate, and refusing to allow any villagers, even those with a permit, to cross the gate and access their farmlands. Occupation forces also come into the village each night, threatening and harassing villagers. Several youth have been arrested without cause during these nightly incursions.
Given the increased repression and abuse against the people of Jayyous, a strong international presence will be particularly important on Friday. We therefore call upon all international activists to join us on November 28 to show your solidarity with the village of Jayyous and to protest the ongoing theft and colonization of Palestinian land. Reject apartheid! Resist occupation! Support the struggle in Jayyous!
